Barista Skills Programme for the Boaz Project
May 08, 2026
Weβre thrilled to be continuing to support our local charity partner the Boaz Project for the second year, the farm-based charity for adults with learning disabilities.

At the start of 2026 we brainstormed ideas to build off the success last yearβs partnership with the charity. With a custom coffee blend co-created for the charity last which they now use for fundraising with the name and blend chosen by members, staff and volunteers and the label artwork co-created by local artist Emma Lowres, we landed on the exciting idea of kitting out a barista station on site at Boaz and delivering a Barista Skills programme differentiated for members throughout the year.
Boaz loved the idea and in consultation with staff and volunteers, we started to build a barista skills programme that would be accessible to members and put together an equipment list for a barista station that would maintain a safe learning environment with adjustments for members, whilst complementing the range of other activities taught at Boaz.
Activity kicked off on site at Boaz with a training session for staff and volunteers earlier this month where they got an insight into what is coffee and training on their very own coffee machine. In the session, we were able to test out some of the differentiated training activities weβve developed for members and get feedback from the team at Boaz to really shape these activities to the membersβ abilities.
On 1st May, we delivered our first session with members and supported by volunteers at Boaz. The session βWhat Is Coffee & Coffee Safetyβ covered where coffee comes from, an introduction to the coffee machine and importantly, using the coffee machine safely! The programme will continue until November when we hope to award budding baristas with certificates in our first, Barista Skills for LDD programme.
